BRAAF (Building Resilience in African American Families is excited to host Unity Day. Unity Day will consist of the BRAAF programs from al three regions (Desert, Riverside and Perris) coming together to offer Umoja to each other and to the local Desert Highland Community of Palm Springs. There are currently 15-18 boys in each region and their parents, staff and community elders will come together on April 29th at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center to host Unity Day. Umoja - Unity: To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race will be the focus of the entire day.

The day begins with breakfast and an opening circle performed by all three region boys, including drumming and libations as the community forms an outer circle symbolizing a circle of protection.. As an act of reciprocity, Community Service projects will be conducted by program participants. Live entertainment, lunch, family centered activities and the spread of unity and joy will aluminate the park grounds.

The Desert Region BRAAF program is the lead host for this unity event, and we welcome all who are interested in building resilience in African American families to come out and join in.. If you are not a part of the 2016/2017 BRAAF program, you will need to register to attend the event. To register, follow the link,
