Community Elders are utilized in various capacities in each region program.  However, helping to build protective factors and skills, increasing support, and reducing risk factors or stressors through instilling respect for elders, others, self, and fellow participants is the essential role of the community elder.  Community Elders help to instill a sense of past that lays the foundation for the future.  To in many instances, they help to renew, refresh, and restore, so that building of lives, families, and communities can occur.

For the most part, community elders can be male or female and live the principles we hope to instill in the youth served.
